February 25, 2003 Executive Meeting (cont'd)

4. MEMBERSHIP: RECRUITING & RETAINMENT, ELIGIBILITY, DUES.

Recruitment and Retention

The executive agreed that the association members need to be active participants in creating a unified voice. However, at this time the executive must engage in considerable work to renew the interest in becoming association members.

Recruitment initiatives include Beth, Lee and Greg contacting student representatives of CYC at each College and University that provides CYC courses and procure their support. Perhaps, student councils would like to have a voice on the web page, or set up working groups, etc. A student in each College and University could be a representative of the CYCABC.

Another recruitment initiative involves putting ads in newspapers, including College and University CYC newsletters, regarding who we are and what we do.

The executive also passionately agreed that the website needs to be revised to become a vehicle for recruitment and retainment. As such, the executive will be voting on a proposal from a web site designer regarding the revision of the CYCABC website.

Other recruitment initiatives include: conference discounts, workshop discounts, executive sponsors, etc.
